Hello from stormy Nassau. Will keep you posted on Hanna's progress as it threatens to visit us soon. All airplanes leave Nassau at noon today, Sunday. We prepare our hurricane survival kits, make last hoarding trip to grocery store, lay in lots of bottled water, etc. So far still sunny and warm. Talk is Hanna will reduce to "tropical storm" when it hits Bahamas' shallow waters.

Thanks for pics of grandchildren. They are refreshing and encouraging. Our IT board member can't get in here, and I have not figured out how to send emails, so Jay, your blogspot will be my vehicle to communicate with the world...IF I can get even this to work. Chat with you later.
Love,
Mum

Today was Joey's first day at kindergarten, n'est ce pas????

Can't wait to see the photos...to relive your first day of kindergarten...at which I cried as you mounted the school bus....Ask not for whom the bus stops. It stops for thee.
Love from Nassau,
Mum

Looks like the kids are having the last bit of fun before school. I know Joey is off to kindergarten this year. What a important next step in to his growing up. Hope there will be lots of picture on the first day. those are always the one we never for get. I'm sure Jen remembers her first day getting off the bus. Hope everything is ok with Mickie and Ray. Love Nana:)

Nassau, 5pm...Thank God for Yellow Tail!!!!!! Customs and Immigration folks have all gone home. Mike & Mary left at 2pm and phoned from somewhere in the US to say they went through Customs & Immigration in Charlotte, NC, on their way to Kazoo.

Maybe there is hope for us for tomorrow at noon. American Airlines told Raymmond just now that they plan to come get us tomorrow!!!!!!! Hooray!!!!! Hanna is okay....but Ike and Joesphine and whoever is next is just over the top!!! I'd rather fly home now and fly back here after the wind settles down and then file the insurance claims for Westwind Club, Nassau....rather than sitting it out here!

Thanks for Yellow Tail!!!!!!!
Love,
Mum

Wednesday, 9pm...Nassau:
Bahamian wisdom: when the ants climb up the wall and the birds quits flying, then the hurricane comes.

Well, the birds swiped our popcorn tonight at Happy Hour, and I ain't seen nary an ant climb up the wall.

That said, we might just slither out of here tomorrow an noon.

Wow, mom, some very interesting insight about the birds and ants.

Looking at the NOAA site, it looks like you may be getting a small reprieve from the tremendous weather systems inflicting the caribbean at the moment, at least enough to come home today.

We had a great time up North, and the lake water is the warmest (and the clearest) I've seen in many years. So, come home, and enjoy the tranquility of Michigan, where we rarely get more than rain and snow as our "inclimate weather".

Midnight, Thursday....we left Nassau at 9am...arrived home at midnight!!!!!

15 hours to get home...but we made it!!!!!!!!!!

You have to pray for the Nassauvians....they are really in for it!!!! We saw looks of desparation as we hugged farewells at 9am this morning.

Thanks to all of you for your emotional support. We are home, and oh so thankful. Some friends are still stuck there, and did not get out today. American Airlines welcomed us at 9am and flew us out with immediately with just a handful of us in the airplane. They balanced us over the wings of the mini jet before we left.

That was really scarry!

We are home, and I am going to bed to cry myself to sleep with gratitude.

Nighty nite,
Mum
